Leonardo all out for Olympique

Leonardo insists “a draw is not enough” against Olympique Marseille tomorrow and gives injury updates on Marco Borriello and Gennaro Gattuso.

Milan lead their Champions League group alongside Real Madrid and are just one point clear of Olympique Marseille, who are their opponents on Wednesday night.

“When we beat them 2-1 in September, that was an important victory for us and gave the team some much-needed confidence,” said the Coach.

“Every time you step on to the field, it’s like starting over again. It will be a key game for OM as well and tomorrow we’ll stand by our style of football, as always going for the victory and I think Marseille will do the same.

“A draw is not enough, that is not the attitude I like from my team. Milan have a great history in Europe and must take that into account. Every time we play, the Final is in our sights.”

Gennaro Gattuso, Marek Jankulovski and Oguchi Onyewu are out of this match and there are increasing reports the Italian has demanded a January transfer.

“Gattuso’s situation is very clear, I speak to him every day. He is injured right now and we all hope he recovers as soon as possible. His problem, if there is one, has to be dealt with in the right way.

“He has an excellent rapport with me and the club, so whatever there is to discuss, it will never become a real problem. His only problem right now is the injury.

“Marco Borriello is undergoing some extra tests just to be on the safe side. We’ll evaluate the situation and make a decision tomorrow. I’m optimistic, as he seemed fine after the Cagliari game.”

Borriello has recently pushed Champions League legend Pippo Inzaghi out of the side.

“I always try to talk to my players and explain why I made one decision rather than another,” continued Leonardo.

“I am very relaxed with the squad and that includes Pippo. It’s never easy to find a balance, but in terms of the human rapport I have absolutely no problems.”

Milan squad: Dida, Storari, Antonini, De Vito, Kaladze, Nesta, Oddo, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta, Abate, Ambrosini, Flamini, Pirlo, Seedorf, Borriello, Di Gennaro, Huntelaar, Inzaghi, Pato, Ronaldinho.
