Gattuso set for new deal

Barely a week after threatening to leave the club, Milan's talismanic midfielder Rino Gattuso has been offered a new contract.

The 31-year-old Italy international is upset at being left out of the first team for much of this season even though he has been suffering through injury.

Milan quickly rallied around Gattuso, insisting he is part of the club's plans and will feature regularly again once he gets back to full fitness.

Adriano Galliani, the club's Vice-President, has made a particular effort to ensure Ringhio feels better about his situation and has now revealed his intention to offer Gattuso a contract extension that should see him finish his career in Rossonero.

“I have never done it before, but I have asked Ringhio to stay and extend his contract so he can end his career with Milan,” Galliani explained.

“We have come to an agreement. First, Gattuso must get better and then we'll meet again and speak,” he concluded.

Gattuso has been with Milan for a decade, winning the Champions League twice.
